I Hate My Body

Yo girl.

Let’s talk about your body image and how much you are hating on yourself.

I know you’re struggling.

You stand in the mirror pushing all the squishy parts.

You breathe in just to see what you would look like a little slimmer.

You look at yourself in disgust.

You only think about the body you wished you had.

You find you comparing yourself to others or even to the body you used to have before kids.

You hate shopping for clothes, it just reminds you of the body you wish you didn’t have.

You punish yourself constantly.

You are always looking for the next quick solution.

You think, I’ll be happy when…

I used to struggle so much with body image, never feeling good enough in my own skin.

I remember hating how I looked so much that I shut down. It affected my relationship with my husband, my girlfriends and even just attending family events would cause me so much anxiety.

I was constantly looking and searching for a quick fix to just help me drop a few kilos because if I could just lose some weight then I could love myself.

It wasn’t until I hit rock bottom (a story for another day), that I decided I didn’t want to live like this anymore.

Loving your body is 100% an inside job and only YOU can do the work.

Here are 6 ways you can start to heal your relationship with your body.

Decide

It really begins with a single decision to commit to working on your relationship with your body and leaning in to that decision EVERY SINGLE DAY

Forgiveness

To begin the healing process you need to start to forgive yourself for the way you have treated your body in the past. Write a letter of forgiveness to yourself. Apologise for all the nasty things you have said about yourself, the way you have mistreated your body and what you are going to do to start nurturing your relationship

Gratitude

Give thanks to your body for all the things it has done for you. Allowing you to breath every day and to pump blood around your body. The miles your body has walked and everything it has endured to serve you. Begin to really notice how amazing your body truly is.

Education

Begin to read the books and listen to the podcasts. Find yourself a coach and a supportive community. The most empowering thing you can do is take action and educate yourself.

Curate your social media feeds

Stop following people who make you feel rubbish. The Instagram feeds that have you comparing yourself to someone else’s highlight reel. Better yet, disconnect for a while. Give your mind a break from all the input and internal negative talk

Hydrate, Nourish and Move your body

Drink plenty of water every single day. Begin to move your body daily, walking in nature is such a great place to start. Being outside is so healing. Choose to eat food filled with nutrients daily. Tune in to your body and notice how certain foods make you feel and respond accordingly.

Learning to love yourself fully and completely, doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time, healing of old wounds, shedding limiting beliefs and commitment to create new and empowering ones.
