Katy has been a member of our community for several months now. It has been a real joy to watch her progress. Katy has inspired me so much. I would imagine as a single, full time working mum it would be hard to find the time to take care of yourself but as Katy said to me once, I need to put myself first so I can be a happy mum.
Katy you are a shining light and a great example to many other supermums out there!
Tell us a bit about yourself
Hi, I’m Katy, 26, single mum and early childhood teacher
Before you started working with Thrive, what were you up to with your health and fitness?
Before I started at thrive, vacuuming was my main form of exercise and 1 game of netball a week. I was a comfort eater and struggled with my guilt about not doing anything!
What attracted you to getting stated with Thrive?
One day at work I did a really active mat time with my children and I felt embarrassed about how puffed out and sweaty I was. I think it was that week I found the boot camp for 6 weeks to kick start a fitness journey with Thrive! I saw women who were real, in a lovely low key environment with no pressure to ‘preform’ in a gym! I saw the reassurance that I would be fully supported through my change, being fitness, healthy choices and how to feel strong holistically. What did I have to lose? Honestly, nothing!
How has Thrive impacted your life?
After my first 6 weeks I saw my before and after photos. What an enormous sense of accomplishment! I looked… great! And I FELT amazing. I felt like me again, not as grumpy, not as impatient, but I felt my passion and zest for life filling my heart cup again!
For you, what is the best thing about Thrive?
The best thing is the sense of belonging within the team. I can go, bitch and whinge, and everyone around me is so encouraging. Emma is the first PT who has made me feel like a friend first, client second! I turn up and there is always a big smile from Emma and all the other ladies. Every training session is different, I don’t ever go in dreading a work out cause I know it’s gonna be fast, full on and exciting!
What would you say to someone who is considering joining the Thrive community?
You will not regret it. Choosing a new path for self development is really hard but you can only explore if you take that first step.
