I write this from my bed, with a hot cup of tea, tired but with a heart full of love and gratitude.
As we wrap up 2017 and look ahead into 2018 I wanted to share with you a little more about our story and the journey that Thrive has taken so far.
2 years ago I was fed up and frustrated at the health and fitness industry. At this stage I had spent 3 years in the wellness coaching and supplement space and while I was able to help a lot of people a common theme kept re-occurring. The perception of “I will be happy when…..”
I was quickly realising while I was able to help people with their health in the short term I wasn’t able to create long term, sustainable change and it was frustrating.
After another 6 months of going round and round in circles, I threw my hands up and walked away from being a wellness coach and using supplementation as my tool to create change.
I knew there was something more for me, a better way to create change and impact the people I was helping long term – I just wasn’t sure how.
Long story short, while I was at the gym one day and noticing how many trainers were using Snap Chat while training clients I decided if I was going to create change and make an impact I needed to take action.
I studied to become a Personal Trainer and during this time my entrepreneurial brain was whirring away and soon Thrive was born.
During this 6 months of study I came up with several ideas of how this may take shape. First it was team training from rented facilities, then a CBD gym and training facility to support trainers to become great PTs but an estimated 50k budget later and I decided that perhaps that wasn’t the best place to start.
Fast forward 6 months, Thrive Studios were set up in my garage, 2 locations were confirmed for our Team Training sessions in the CBD. I had a brand, a fluffy philosophy, a very average website, a clear target market and a desire to create change. My passion project was becoming a reality.
April 1st 2017, I launched Thrive, nervous, scared but a heart full of passion and drive to make it happen.
Over the last 9 months it has been a journey that has had many twists and turns.
The biggest thing I have become super clear on is our philosophy.
Girl power. Simple. We help women become fitter, faster and stronger so they can Thrive.
I have learnt that our Thrive community is the foundation of everything we stand for. Our tribe understands that empowered women, empower women. I believe when you are a part of a community that encourages you to rise, celebrates your success and has your back when times are tough then you can do nothing but thrive.
In 2017 we have a slight re-brand, a sexy new website and photoshoots to reflect the women of Thrive.
We have introduced a membership hub as a source inspiration and resources for our squad.
We aligned with Les Mills Hutt City and have been able to reach more women and launch 1 on 1 personal training and more small group sessions.
And finally, we have released our online coaching programme for our girls who can’t train with us face to face.
Our team is growing every week and the results speak for themselves. There is honestly nothing better than seeing the whole team win!
MOVING FORWARD.
As we move into 2018 girl power continues to be our philosophy and we have a mission to welcome another 50 women in to our Tribe.
Our current sessions will continue to grow and improve.
We will be launching workshops specific to women on topics that matter, like understanding your hormones and how they affect your training and cravings!
We will be bringing back our Adventure Series, there is nothing quite like getting into nature with your girlfriends and experiencing what our beautiful city has to offer.
Finally, our brand new Learn to Lift 10 week programme.
I’m confident this is going to become our signature programme. This programme is going to teach women the fundamentals of strength training and why every single women should be working towards become strong. (Keep an eye out for all the details to be released soon.)
So as 2017 comes to a close, it’s fair to say that this idea of creating a community thats entire purpose is to see women thrive is now a reality.
I am truly grateful for the faith and the commitment from all of the incredible women I work with. For my mentors, coaches, and entrepreneurial girlfriends who listen and help guide me to keep working towards creating something bigger than myself.
I’m looking forward to working with our tribe in 2018 and all the women we are yet to meet.
Much love this holiday season, thank you for being apart of Thrives Journey,
Em x
